The Wendell August Forge Process

• Artists: Original artwork establishes the design for every piece.
• Die engravers: The design is transferred into a steel die; hand-engraved pieces may carry the engraver’s hidden signature.
• Craftspeople: Recyclable aluminum and specialty metals are hammered, formed, and carefully finished using the repoussé process.

The 2024 Annual Ornament is inspired by the whimsical artwork of Emily Hendrie and put into metal by Master Die Engraver Len Youngo using hand, hammer and centuries-old techniques. Each is handcrafted by artisans in our Pennsylvania workshop and designed to be passed down for generations.
